CHANCEL ISLET (Iguana Islet)

Chancel Islet is a small islet located opposite the commune of Le Robert, in Martinique. This islet is known for its preserved nature and ancient history.

On Chancel Islet, one can observe a rare species of iguana called the Lesser Antillean iguana. These iguanas are protected as they are threatened with extinction. The islet is one of the last places where they still live freely.

Ancient ruins are also found on the islet, which are the remains of an old colonial dwelling and two lime kilns. These ruins bear witness to the time when the islet was used for agriculture and material production.
